Consisting of 5 000 fully subsidised housing units, 3 000 partially subsidised houses, 3 300 bonded erven and 1 000 institutional housing units for rental stock, 12 schools, 40 churches, 48ha of industrial and 10ha of commercial development, Cosmo City is not just another township development, but a prestigious housing project in Gauteng, South Africa, given the status of a Premier Priority Project.
Spanning 900ha, a total length of nearly 130km of internal streets, and similar lengths of water and sewer pipes, the total development cost is estimated well over US$310million.
The whole project was planned to be completed in a three-year period. The installation of services in Phase 1, consisting of 1 500 fully subsidised houses and
1 000 bonded stands, is nearing completion. A very lively interest was experienced in the bonded erven, and the first phase was sold out within weeks.
