
Northern Cape Legislature Building – Kimberley, South Africa
KV3 was employed by the Northern Cape Government in South Africa as project engineers during the construction of their new legislative buildings. The irregular shapes of the various structures comprising this US$13million complex required effective co-ordination between the construction and design teams and resulted in unique challenges for the site team.
Specification/Design:
- A tower structure of 23m is the main focal point of the complex. The tower has three levels from where the city of Kimberley and its surroundings may be viewed. It also acts as a platform for the premier to address people gathered in the Patlelo (open area).
- Circular openings in the slabs allow sunlight through from the roof to the basement levels.
